The Volunteering Culture

Have you ever wondered why US schools require volunteer hours to graduate? It’s because volunteering is very important in our culture. In this class we learn about this volunteering culture, where it comes from and its role in society. We will also have some guest teachers come in to talk about how their organizations work. During these sessions you are free to ask these professionals any questions.

Talk Time Every Thursday

Meets from 1:00 to 2:30 PM at Baker House (4718 15th Ave NE)

Talk Time is intended to give each participant a chance to practice his/her English and to fellowship with other students and scholars and American volunteers. It begins with the introduction of a topic and then we divide into small discussion groups with an American leader for each group.

Alpha has begun

This course is created for people who are not Christians or brand new Christians who want to learn the ABCs of Christianity. You do not need to believe in God, have any religious background, and can even be skeptical of Christianity. This course will explain what Christianity is, what it isn’t, and will probably surprise you. Come enjoy a free meal, friendship, and a video that provides topics for discussions. You are welcome to bring your friends and family with you. We will adjust to your schedule so you can come. To join, email VivienneL@upc.org.
